Early years learning framework (EYLF) is an important document that explains everything educators need to know, follow and do for children from birth to five years old. In this document, a major focus is on children belonging, being and becoming. These Three words that show what educators do when they work with children and their families.
The big idea is that we want our children to feel they belong. Teaching them how to live their present. If they do not feel this, they become anxious and worried and cannot learn. Belonging makes children feel supported and feel they are part of a community. Being is about children being themselves, free from any pressures, enjoy their stage of development. Becoming is about children’s future whom they want to grow up to be. Educators will support them reach their potentials and learn to become active members of community, preparing them for their future.
In EYLF, educators must prepare the right environment for arts and set ups to allow children express themselves and become creators of joy, engagement, arts and creativity. In their art environment, educators provide children with lots of materials to choose from, make art to be available and accessible all time and most importantly they encourage children’s ideas and do not tell them what to do.
Belonging.

Furthermore, we see that arts continues to be part of children’s earning through their education and into their primary levels. Although art in primary learning does not seem to be as important as English or Maths and Science, however it is still a vital element of learning that helps to create many skills and abilities for children. Children who do arts are much more confident in their other subjects and achieve greater outcomes when combine their learning of art with all other learnings at school.

Art helps with all the other subjects and skills.
